Palestinian Ambassador to Bangladesh Yusuf S. Y. Ramadan paid a courtesy call and exchanged views with Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman.
The meeting was held at Jamaat’s Bashundhara office on Sunday (September 7) in the presence of the party’s Nayeb Ameer Syed Abdullah Md. Taher, Assistant Secretary General Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, Central Executive Council member and Dhaka Metropolitan North Ameer Mohammad Selim Uddin.
During the exchange of views, Shafiqur Rahman said, ‘In the current situation, all people of Bangladesh, regardless of party affiliation, have support for Palestine. We have prayers, love, cooperation, and support for Palestine and this will continue in the future, God willing. We want Palestine to stand in the world with full independence as a nation-state.’
Shafiqur Rahman said, “Recently, Israel has publicly announced the occupation of Gaza, and this blueprint for occupation is a naked manifestation of Israeli aggression; which is completely contrary to international law, human rights and justice. This violent occupation by Israel is a serious threat not only to Palestine, but also to the peace, stability and humanity of the entire world.”
At that time, the Jamaat Ameer made a strong appeal to the peace-loving world, including the UN and OIC, to force the occupying Israel to immediately stop this destructive plan to occupy Gaza City and forcibly displace the Palestinian people.
Yusuf Saleh SY Ramadan said, ‘On behalf of the people of Palestine, I express my sincere gratitude for the meaningful love, support and cooperation of the people of Bangladesh towards Palestine, especially the Gaza Strip. At the same time, as the Ambassador of Palestine, I express my hope that the meaningful support, help and cooperation of Bangladesh, especially Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, towards the people of Palestine will continue in the future, Insha Allah.’
